MUNISING - The U.S. Forest Service will hold an open house Tuesday in Munising commemorating the centennial anniversary of the agency. The open house will be from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Hiawatha National Forest's Munising District office in Munising, located at the intersection of M-28 and Alger County Highway 58.
A series of then and now photographs will be on display, as well as tools and other artifacts highlighting changes in the forest resources and management techniques. A traveling centennial exhibit will also be featured. Staff will be available to discuss current issues.
Following the open house, the recently released documentary "The Greatest Good" will be shown, tracing the history of the Forest Service since 1905.
The free showing of this film will be from 7 to 9 p.m at the Alger County Historical Society at 1496 Washington St. in Munising.
