2004/4/5
Date: Monday 5th April, 2004
Time: 11.00 a.m.
Place: Shellway Road, Off Newbridge Road, Ellesmere Port
Photo/Interview Opportunity: Lord Clark, Chairman of the Forestry Commission, is visiting Ellesmere Port at the invitation of Andrew Miller, MP for Ellesmere Port and Neston, to look at the excellent progress of the The Mersey Forest and in particular to look at sites that are being considered as part of the NWDA funded Newlands programme.
Andrew Miller MP will demonstrate the real impact of planting trees on derelict industrial land at Shellway Road, to improve the image of the area and generate inward investment. Hertz, the car rental business, has recently been granted planning consent adjacent to the area that was planted just four years ago.
The visit will look at progress on a number of sites across Ellesmere Port. Since The Mersey Forest was launched woodland cover in Ellesmere Port has increased by over 160%.
