Project name: Jian’ou China Bamboo and Bamboo Shoot Center
Content and scale of construction: The bamboo and bamboo shoot market, which enjoys the largest scale, highest taste and complete supporting facilities in China, composed all the funtions such as trade of bamboo shoot and bamboo products, communication of information, bamboo culture study and management, scientific research and recreation of bamboo forests, is to be established. The aggregate planning area of the market hits 10 km2, of which 6 km2 is for industrial purpose, 2 km2 is for commercial residential area, 1 km2 for public utilization, and 1 km2 for transaction and exhibition area.

Reasons and conditions for construction: 1) Infrastructural advantage: located at the east suburb of Jian’ou City, the China Bamboo Shoot and Bamboo City is suited by the side of Pucheng-Nanping Expressway and Jian’ou-Zhenghe provincial highway; 2)Advantage of resources: Nanping City, enjoys a reputation of Bamboo Shoot Capital and Bamboo Town of China, is aboundant in bamboo resources of varieties. Currently, there are 15 bamboo categories over 110 cultivars, which account for 72% of the bamboo types all over the province (wherein there are 21 categories approximating to 200 cultivars; 3) Market advantage: Bamboo shoot and bamboo products are increasing. Among the bamboo shoot foods, there are fresh bamboo shoots such as winter and spring bamboo shoots of moso bamboos, bitter bamboo shoots of small-size bamboos, thunder bamboo shoots, yellowish sweet bamboo shoots, green bamboo shoots, etc, and dried bamboo shoots like white bamboo shoots, brown bamboo shoots, water-soaked bamboo slices, newly developed dried bamboo shoot slices (when fresh bamboo shoots are boiled out, they’re cut into bamboo slices and then dried), and all kinds of exquisitely packed dried bamboo shoot strips and slices, salted bamboo shoots, etc.
Analysis of economic benefit: Phase I work of the project of China Bamboo Shoot and Bamboo Center will be completed in two years. When completed, this project can drive 100 large and medium sized bamboo and wood processing enterprises. Annual output value will be 8571 million USD with annual profit payments and tax turnover up to 85 million USD. In addition, 10000 employment positions can be created.
Total and foreign investment: The investment amounts to RMB 5 billion converted into 625 million USD.
Progress of initial works: Pre-feasibility study and analysis has been completed. It’s now in the phase of planning and designing, requisition of land and ground breaking.

2. Northern Fujian Forest Industry and Trade Park
Project name: Northern Fujian Forest Industry and Trade Park
Content and scale of construction: There are 10 000 mu planned to be exploited for project, forest product commercial area with wood annual output of 2 million m3 will be 2 000 mu, and for first step 1000 mu with wood annual output of 1 million m3 will be developed. The multifunction comprehensive service area of 700 mu, among them 300 mu will be developed at the first step, and the modern comprehensive service center will be built with multifunctions including government affairs, forest product expo center, electronic business and goods transportation. Forest products processing area of 7300 mu will be divided into wood and bamboo productions, paper production, and forest green food processing respectively. 3000 mu will be developed for the first phrase, the wood and bamboo production processing area will be its aim.
Reasons and conditions for construction: Nanping owned 29.85 million mu of forestland, 118 million m3 forest stocking volume, produced 2.1 million m3; 5.54 million mu of Phyllostachys pubescens forest，produced 52 million commercial P. Pubescens and over 600 thousand tons of fresh bamboo shoot annually. With rich forest resource; it was of great benefit to develope forest industrial processing industry in Fujian and south collective forest area.
Analysis of economic benefit: The annual output value will be 1.3 billion yuan with anuual tax of 360 million yuan after the whole project be finished.
Total and foreign investment: The total investment is 74.07 million USD, of which 70 million is foreign investment. Chinese side will be responsible for the project preparing work and part of infrastructure construction investment.

Project name: Nanping Bamboo Shoot Products Deep Processing Production
Content and scale of construction: deep processing of bamboo shoot products with annual output of 50,000 tons
Reasons and conditions for construction: With annual output of 660 000 tons, bamboo shoot is a rich resource in Nanping Municipality, equals over 40% of the amount of that of province. Bamboo shoot is one of three leading agriculture, there are 4 bamboo shoot green food trade mark at present. The supply of bamboo shoot is 660 000 tons every year with 30% processed, there are still 500 000 tons can be processed. Now the bamboo shoot deep-processing is the mainstay of Nanping food industry. Introduction of advanced technology is important, thus bamboo shoot deep-processing and serial products with high technology contents, mainly in instant-dried banboo shoot products can be developped.
Analysis of economic benefit: The annual sale income will be 45 million USD after the whole project be finished.
Total and foreign investment : 20 million USD, including foreign investment of 15 million USD. The Chinese side invests 3 million USD for its present land and factory building.

Content and scale of construction: Annual output of 100,000 m3 of Chinese fir coating board. Production plan: produce all grades of wooden door/window components, traceries and cedar finger-jointed boards etc; Equipments to be introduced: advanced overseas wood product processing equipment and environmental painting process line; Project content: cedar sawing and drying workshop, cedar finger-jointed board workshop, wood product processing workshop, painting workshop and public facilities such as water and electricity supply; Consumption of small dimension cedar-wood: 0.26 million cubic meters/year.
Reasons and conditions for construction: 1. Deep-processed cedar-wood products enjoy a good market. Cedar traceries and finger-joint boards are very popular in markets of Europe and America, enjoying a hot demand and great market potential. 2. Advantaged upland resources. The total wooded area of Nanping reaches 1.96 million hectares, constituting 91.11% of the upland area. The forestry land area per capita reaches 0.72 hectare. 3. Advantaged forestry resources. Nanping is the central growing area of cedar-wood, as well as the main growing area of bamboo. Its annual output of merchantable timber reaches 2 million cubic meters. 4. Superior location. Being the economic corridor connecting southeastern coastal regions, Nanping is neighboring Yangtze River Delta to the north and Pearl River Delta to the south, featuring distinct strategic status and role.
Analysis of economic benefit: After the project is put into production, the annual sales revenue will reach RMB 390 million, with a tax revenue of RMB 49.24 million, after-tax profit of RMB 39.79 million and project ROI (after tax) of 31.84%. The total investment recovery period will be 3.97 years (including the construction period).

Content and scale of construction: to establish production line of 5000 tons of Castanea henryi fresh-keeping and serial products deep-processing
Reasons and conditions for construction: Nanping is the main region for the production of Castanea henryi, with totally 680 000 mu of Castanea henryi planted area, and 30 000 tons of output. Jianou city, Zhenghe County, and Jianyang city are respectively awarded as “China Town of Castanea henryi” by State Forestry Administration. Jianou city has 426 000 mu of Castanea henryi area, with production area of 202 600 mu. For Castanea henryi tree can produce for several decades, the annual output can be 20 000 tons. With the establishement of new Castanea henryi forest and the improvement of low-output Castanea henryi forest, the annual Castanea henryi output can be increased greatly. Zhenhe county has Castanea henryi area for 1350 000 mu, with annual Castanea henryi output 7000 tons, ranking top 2 in China in terms of planted area and total production. 4 Castanea henryi trade market has been established in Zhenghe county, with influence to the surrounding counties and towns. With the total trade volume of 10 000 tons, it became the largest Castanea henryi market in China. Due to the improvement of planting and management levels, the output can be 35 000 tons in 2005. Therefore, the source of raw materals is abundant and with good quality and price. They can supply high quality materials and competitive prices, meet the demands for Castanea henryi fresh-keeping and deep –processing production.

6. Comprehensive Utilization of the Residuum from Processing of Mao Bamboo Shoots
Project name: Comprehensive Utilization of the Residuum from Processing of Mao Bamboo Shoots
Scale and content of construction: It’s planned that 95 mu land be taken over to newly add the floor area of 27.6 thousand m2. Annual consumption of the residumm from processing of Mao bamboo shoots hits 400 million tons with an annual output of 1000 ton aqueous bamboo shoot extracts (which include 100 ton bamboo shoot sterols, 600 ton amino acid peptide extracts of bamboo shoots and 300 ton bamboo shoot diet fibers).
Reasons and conditions for construction: Bamboo shoot extract, as an extract of natural food, it contains large amount of sterol compound, amino acid peptide, dietary fibre, that can be used in the development and production of medicine, health foods, seasonings. It can greatly enrich the structure of bamboo shoots deep-processing. To explore the activity of bamboo exacts, we found that it contains a peptide which can enhance the growing of hair, and anti-cancer sterols. We can develop the bamboo shoot fibre into dietary fibre chewing piece, dietary fibre capsule, dietary fibre bread, etc, and make the bamboo shoot amino acid peptide extract applied into the seanings, soft drinks, such as bamboo shoot soysauce and bamboo shoot drink.
Analysis of economic benefits: The annual output will be 1000 tons when the target throughput is achieved. The sales revenue is forecasted as 17.6 million USD with profit payments and tax turnover as 6.8 million USD. Rate of the profit payments & tax turnover of investment is 37.70%. Static investment recovery period of the project (pre-tax) lasts two years, and static investment recovery period of the project (post-tax) lasts 3.3 years.
Total and foreign investment: The gross project investment is planned as USD 16.62 million, among which investment into fixed assets hits 15.9 million USD(i.e.2 million USD for land requisition, 4.4 million USD for factury building, and 9.4 million USD for investment into facilities) and investment of circulating funds hits 2.2 million USD. The foreign investment will be USD 15 million.

Reasons and conditions for construction: Jianyang City is one of the key forest districts in the south of our country, having excellent natural conditions and abundant forest resources, which together provide sufficient resources for processing of solid wood doors with cedar woods. Rapid development of our economy and conspicuous acceleration of urbanization will certainly promote development of the building industry vigorously. The prospect of wood industry should mainly concern the building industry. It’s of high market potential that cedar woods are utilized with process equipment of modern industry to manufacture the wood doors widely applied in the building industry. Jianyang City boasts sound industrial infrastructure, convenient transportation facilities, abundant human resources and sufficient water & power supply, all of which give a vigorous support to this project.
Analysis of economic benefit:on completion of the project, the annual output value will total RMB 240 million with annual profits as RMB 60 million and project internal rate of return as 16%; the project investment recovery period lasts 2.8 years (excluding one year of construction period).

Content and scale of construction: to start up furniture-manufacture production line of annual output of 1000 000 sets. Location: Shaxian Industrial Park of Fujian-Taiwan Forest Products Cooperative-processing District
Reasons and conditions for construction: Sanming is a key forested-region in Fujian Province with annual timber output of over 3 million m3 and varieties of wood based pannel output of over 1 million m3. The raw materials for developing furniture industry is adequate. The supply of electrical power in Sanming city is abundant and of low price, thus can meet the continual need of power of industry in average years. The hunam resource here is rich while the wage of workers is relatively low. Sanming is the traditional industry base in Fujian Province with full industry infrastructure. With convenient transportation, such as railways, express ways, airport, and water ways around the city, Sanming will become a transport juction in the middle of Western Coast of Taiwan Strait.Sanming and other surrounding counties have relatively large demand of furniture. However, yet there has not existed a furniture-making enterprise of large scale and high quality. Thus, the potential market of Sanming is huge. Meanwhile,the establishment of Fujian-Taiwan (Sanming) Modern Forestry Cooperation Experimental Region will provide more prefenrential conditions such as forest policy, land exploiting policy, and investing and finacing, all of which can be advantages of furniture industry.

Project name: Sanyuan industrialization of extracting llexonin A from hairy holly root
Content and Scale of construction: The annual production of hairy holly root llexonin A will be 300 tons. 800 hectares hairy holly root forests will be planted including 533 hectares in the hills, and 267 hectares with high-density in the used paddy land. A manufacturing building and a extracting production line will be built as well. Project location: Jingdong Bio-industrial Park, Sanming, Fujian Province.
Reasons and conditions for construction: The hairy holly root belongs to the aquifoliaceae, evergreen brushwood, has the effects of detoxification, reducing fever and promoting blood circulation. Llexonin A is a triterpene compound with physiological activity exacted from Chinese herb hairy holly root and acylated by succinyl oxide, and is a new type of anti-blood platelet aggregating medicine. It can be used as a cure to ischemic cerebrovascular disease, coronary heart disease, angina, miocardial infarction, retinitis, peripheral angiopathy, etc，with obvious medical effect and extensive clinical use.Sanyuan district has superior natural environment, adequate rare forest resources. There is over 1.33 hectares of hairy holly root primitive forest resources scattering in the district, in which the natural environment is good for the growing of the hairy holly root medical forest. With promising prospect of developing and utilizing, it’s one of the ideal places to set up a hairy holly root artificial forest base.Sanyuan district government has been in the long-term cooperation with Fudan University, Sanming College, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, and Fujian Academy of Forestry, etc, thus acquired support and aids in the fields of experimental equipment and core techniques. Concerning about the techniques of extracting llexonin A from hairy holly root, it started up a joint development with the Science and Technique Division of Yunnan University. Currently, the price of hairy holly root dry branches is above 3 Yuan per kilogram, hairy holly root llexonin A is 33 thousand USD per ton. Along in the domestic market, the supply can’t meet the demand to a large extent. The international market demand is vigorous and increases with the rate of 15%. Content and Scale of construction: 3.33 hectares of relaxing and recuperating center and 350 hectares of tourist area.
Project location: Wenjiashan, Wenjiao Town, Qingliu County
Reasons and conditions for construction: South Chinese Yew is a national rare plant, being named as “living fossil”, it’s very useful for timber, Chinese herb, viewing, and environment. It contains a natural anti-cancer substance –paclitaxel and became a eye-catching of the world. Wenjiashan south Chinese yew proterozoic in Qingliu County belongs to the southeastern part of Wuyi Mountain, with the mountain and ravine, springs and thick forests inside. Due to the orographic uplift of neotectonic movement and the abration of running water, the landform of hills is obvious. Chinese Yew Proterozoic vegetation is being protected well. The forest coverage rate reaches as high as 99%. Up to over 39 thousand south Chinese yew and scattering area of 544 hectares, Shuikou Chinese yew community in particular, there are several hundred Chinese yews gathering in this area of 0.533 hectares. The largest one is over 1 meter wide, and there are 27 Chinese yews over 20 centimeters. With red ripe fruits,and rocks growing trees, the natural bonsai scenery is unique and beautiful. Within the center, there are has many streams and rivers making into complicated water system, with water running all the year around. The scenery reflected with mountain become the wonder of the nature.
Analysis of economic benefit: The annual income for tourism relaxing can reach 7.92 million USD, the profit of 1.32 million USD, ROI of 12.5%, the investment coverage period is 8 years.

Reasons and conditions for construction: The Camellia oil belongs to the woody low branching plant oil. It richly contains Vitamin E, unsaturated fatty acid and oxidation resistant substances, moreover, it is quite heat-resistant, and it has a positive effect on lowering blood-fat, and reducing the risks of angiocardiopathy, prevent and control hypertension. The substance it contains is more than that of olive oil, but the price is much lower than that of olive oil. In the medical use , it can be used as an ointment for burns and scalds, hernia and bellyache, etc. In addition to a large number of natural perfumery oil it provides, it contains various effective substances that can be extracted and refined from the shell. Through processed, the extract can be applied to the fields of fodder, daily used chemical industry, medicine, etc. Tea oil is common in south China. In Yong’an there is over 1333.33 hectares of plantation area. Meanwhile, Yong’an Forestry Company, ltd owns 121,33 hectares forest land provided for the plantation of Camellia oil, it also has a complete nursery stock fostering center, rich experience of planting and extracting. All these provide good conditions for the plantation, processing and utilizing of the Camellia oil.
Analysis of economic benefit: the annual output of Camellia oil can be 1200 tons, the output of chemical products for everyday use, and medicine can be 200 tons, 300 tons of crude protein. The annual sales income can be 6.6 million USD, 1.32 million USD of net profit.

Content and Scale of construction: 6667 ha of magnolia officinalis plantation and a production line with annual processing of 2000 tons magnolia officinalis Project location: Datian County.
Reasons and conditions for construction: The clinical application of Magnolia officinalis is wide, such as effects of anti-bacteria, anti-ulcus, anti-convulsion, anti-allergy, anti-muscle relaxation and so on. With few side-effects, the application has been broadened. Magnolia officinalis contains over 30 types of volatile unctuous, over 20 types of differential phenols, 9 types of alkaloid, and some other chemicals. Among them, the magnolol and honokiol are the two effective elements of the Magnolia officinalis products. With the growing of modern Chinese medicine, the extracting of magnolol and magnolol monomels have caught more and more attention. In Chinese pharmaceutical industry, the Chinese patent drugs that contain magnolia officinalis products are over 200 types, such as the Huoxiang Zhengqi Jiaowan, i.e. the ageratum capsule, Fupu medical granules, etc. Those Chinese patent drugs have been widely applied to the clinical treatment. Some large pharmaceutical factories are also developing magnolia officinalis products contained medicines. As there are some new progresses in its application to the anti-tumor drugs, the demand for magnolia officinalis is increasing. People in the county has long history for planting of magnolia officinalis, they have got much experience by now and developed the planting to a certain extent. Reasons and conditions for construction:Longyan City of Fujian Province is one key forest area of South China, and area with high bamboo yield. The urban bamboo area is 190 thousand hectares, Phyllostachys pubescens forest area is 174 thousand hectares, and accounts 91.6% of the total bamboo forest area, the site bamboo amount is 300 million pieces, the annual commercial bamboo yield is30 million pieces, the annual winter and spring bamboo shoot yields are 290 and 430 thousand tons.
